Obituary

Karen Elizabeth Urbanski, age 82, of Seymour, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Covered Bridge Health Campus, Seymour, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Urbanski was a dedicated lifelong member of Queen of All Saints Church in Michigan City and later joined St. Ambrose Catholic Church upon her move to Seymour in 2021.
Karen had a deep affection for her family and cherished the time spent with them. She also enjoyed playing Bingo with her sister-in-law, Mary Urbanski, and engaging in ceramics and crafts.
She graduated from St. Mary's High School (Marquette Catholic) in Michigan City in 1960. She was an active member of the Elston and Michigan City Athletic Booster Clubs. One of her greatest achievements was playing a key role in establishing the Athletic Heritage Room at Michigan City High School.
Karen was previously employed as a secretary at Mitchell's Plumbing & Heating in Michigan City. She then worked with Nanette and Larry Dombkowski at Yardscapes in Michigan City for many years, a job that brought her great joy.
Born on January 11, 1942, on the farm in La Porte, Karen was the daughter of Joe and Willo (Wilcox) Corish, both of whom preceded her in death. On May 13, 1967, in Michigan City, she married Eugene Urbanski, and they spent their honeymoon at Niagara Falls. He preceded her in death in 2009.
Survivors include two sons: Michael (Jennifer) Urbanski of La Porte, and Dave (Jen) Urbanski of Seymour; and three grandchildren: Jesse Thompson, Claire Urbanski, and Cael Urbanski.
Karen was also preceded in death by her sister, Kathy (John) Sarver.
Funeral services for Karen Elizabeth Urbanski will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Michigan City.
Interment will follow at Saint Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, Michigan City.
Memorials may be given to Don and Dana Myers Cancer Center and Michigan City Athletic Booster Club through Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.
