Kenneth "Kenny" Eugene Sherman, age 77, of Freetown, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Lutheran Community Home, Seymour, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Sherman was a devoted member of Cortland Christian Church.
Kenny dedicated more than 30 years of service to the Indiana State Highway Department in Seymour prior to his retirement.
Kenny loved his family dearly. He spent a lot of his free time as a volunteer pastor and assisting at churches and nursing homes, which was truly a passion to him. He also enjoyed acrylic and chalk painting, collecting trains, and puppeteering.
Born on April 8, 1948, Kenneth was the son of Joseph and Julia (Waggoner) Sherman, both of whom preceded him in death. On August 11, 1979, at Ratcliff Grove Christian Church, he married Kathy Lynn Greathouse, and she survives in Freetown.
Survivors also include one sister, Reva Adams; mother-in-law, Carolyn Greathouse of Columbus; brother-in-law, Gregg Greathouse of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kenny was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Glenn Greathouse.
Funeral services for Kenneth "Kenny" Eugene Sherman will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Joe Caplinger officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.
Memorials may be given to Cortland Christian Church, Lutheran Community Home in Seymour, or Donor's choice.
