Lester Baker, age 85, of Brownstown, Indiana, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015 at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour. He was the owner of Baker's Body Shop, Brownstown, and served in the United States Army. Born on April 26, 1929, in Manchester, Kentucky, he was the son of B.P. and Addie Bowling Baker, both of whom preceded him im death. On January 11, 1959, he married Edna McElfresh, and she survives in Brownstown. Survivors also include two sons, Steven (Tammy) Baker of Vallonia and Mark (Tammie) Baker of Brownstown; one sister, Ethel Davis; four grandchildren, James (Caitlyn) Baker, David Baker, Scott Baker and Sarah Baker; two great grandchildren, William Baker and Evan Baker. In addition to both parents, he was also preceded in death by four sisters, Ruth Hignite, Alabama Davidson, Ortha Davidson and Mae Conard; and three brothers, Ted Baker, Hobart Baker and Feltner Baker. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2015 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown. Military honors will be presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Vets 7.
