Linda Lou Simmons, age 68, of Seymour, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital, Greenwood, surrounded by her loving family.
Linda was an active member of Cornerstone Christian Church.
She worked as a bailiff for Jackson Circuit Court for more than ten years.
Linda loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved shooting guns and visiting her sister in Georgia.
Born on August 15, 1955, in Beech Grove, Linda was the daughter of Francis E. and Patty (Hutchins) Kerner, both of whom preceded her in death. On January 20, 2021, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, she married Mark Alan Simmons, and he survives in Seymour.
Survivors also include two sons: J.L. (Bethany) McElfresh of Seymour, and Travis McElfresh (fiancé Erin Cain) of Brownstown; one sister, Brenda (Rickey) Nation of Georgia; two grandchildren: Dakota (Hunter) Anderson and Taylor McElfresh (fiancé Destiny Faught); and three great-grandchildren: Nova Anderson, Madelyn Anderson, and Wrenlee McElfresh.
Funeral services for Linda Lou Simmons will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Johnnie Spivey officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.
Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour.
Memorials may be given to Cornerstone Christian Church.
