Lola Mae Edington Clark, age 86, of Brownstown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Hoosier Health & Living, Brownstown, surrounded by her loving family.
Lola was a devoted member of Mountain Baptist Church for many years alongside her late husband, Paul. She most recently attended Houston Christian Church with her husband, Jack Clark, and loved singing at church and in the choirs in our area.
Lola and her late husband, Paul, owned the Edington Grocery Store in Spraytown from 1969 to 1975. She later worked as a secretary at Cosco in Columbus and spent many years welcoming visitors as a greeter at Voss Funeral Service in Seymour.
Family was very important to Lola. She loved her family dearly and had a heart of gold. She was a humble, kind, and generous lady, who always thought of others before herself. She was a dear friend to many and was always willing and ready to help anyone at any time.
Lola shared a passion for horseback riding with her late husband. She also had a deep love for music, and she sang and played bass guitar with several gospel groups over the years.
Born on April 22, 1939, in Spraytown, Lola was the daughter of Bertis and Blanche (Altemeyer) Burns, both of whom preceded her in death. On January 17, 1961, in Freetown, she married Paul Franklin Edington, and he preceded her in death on September 9, 2011. On June 20, 2020, she married Jack Clark, and he survives in Brownstown.
Survivors also include one son, Tim Edington of Freetown; one daughter, Patsy Killey (Marcus) Hess of Brownstown; seven grandchildren: Nick (Lyndsay) Hudson, Natalie (Ben) Velzen, Noah (Elizabeth) Killey, Cindy Edington, Kayla Hinderlider, Orlanda (James) Dillman, and Steven (Cindy) Wynn; eight great-grandchildren: Mason Hudson, Sutton Hudson, Porter Hudson, Theo Velzen, Eleanor Mae (Nellie) Velzen, Emily Dillman, Cooper Dillman, and Mya Wynn; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Edington.
Lola was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mark Killey; daughter-in-law, Theresa Edington; brother, Kenny Burns; sister and brother-in-law, Opal and Howard “Chub” Ault; brother and sister-in-law, Tommie and Jane Edington; and brother-in-law, Oley Edington.
Funeral services for Lola Mae Edington Clark will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor David Pritchard officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.
Interment will follow at White’s Chapel Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Houston Christian Church.
