Marian Holloway, age 97, of Brownstown, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Silver Oaks Health Campus, Columbus.
Mrs. Holloway was a member of the Brownstown United Methodist Church.
Marian cherished her family, and she loved all social gatherings with family and friends. She was a devoted beautician in Aurora for many years. She delighted in traveling with her husband, enjoyed bowling, and she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter No. 134, for more than 50 years.
Born on December 30, 1926, in Aurora, Marian was the daughter of William and May (Godfrey) Cheek, both of whom preceded her in death. On January 26, 1963, she married Kenneth Ralph Holloway, and he preceded her in death on October 16, 2020.
Survivors include one son, Kenny (Lori) Holloway of Columbus; two stepsons: Dr. Michael (Reva) Holloway of Greentown and Patrick Holloway of Brownstown; one stepdaughter, Barbara Marion of Michigan; grandchildren: Joshua (Yon Joo) Holloway and Lauren (Blake) Mellencamp; great-grandchildren: Vance Holloway, Landon Holloway, Rowyn Mellencamp, and Emersyn Mellencamp; step-grandchildren: Chantel, Russ, Brad, Beth, Dawn, Kevin, Jennifer, Amy, Lisa, Michael, Jackie, and Chris; and several step great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Marian was also preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia A. Chase; one step-daughter, Bonnie Bolton; stepson-in-law, Russell Marion; four sisters: Mildred Fox, Laura Oldfield, Dorothy Clark, and Helen Calvert; and three brothers: Robert Cheek, Raymond Cheek, and William Cheek.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Silver Oaks Legacy Lane, especially Amy Thompson, Shellie Giles, and Jill Skaggs; Jessica Walker of Our Hospice; neighbors, Carl and Bonnie Taylor; and friend and caregiver, Debbie Stephenson.
Funeral services for Marian Holloway will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Kay Pratt officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.
Memorials may be given to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
