Obituary

Marjorie June Spurgeon, age 96, of Brownstown, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Covered Bridge Health Campus, Seymour, comforted by her family.
June was a member of Brownstown United Methodist Church, where she was active in the church choir and the WSCS. She was also a member of Psi Iota Xi, Sweet Adelines and the Red Hat Society.
She graduated from Freetown High School and was employed at the Seymour Shirt Factory, Marion Kay and Hamilton Cosco, from which she retired.
June's family was her pride and joy. June was an avid basketball fan and enjoyed attending the sporting events of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching the Indiana Hoosiers, Boston Celtics, especially Larry Bird, and the Indiana Pacers.
Born on February 9, 1919, she was the daughter of J. Frank and Straussie Fleetwood Denny, both of whom preceded her in death. On October 10, 1936, in Butlerville, she married J. Harry Spurgeon, who preceded her in death on March 8,
2006.
Survivors include two sons, Charles (Janet) Spurgeon of Columbus, Indiana, and David (Pam) Spurgeon of Freetown; two daughters, Ann (Bruce) Furr of Bloomington and Judy McWilliams of Greenwood; 15 grandchildren: Steve (Kelly) Furr, Lance (Jamie) Furr, Carol (Paul) Gillard, Rex (Jackie) Furr, Lisa (Jeff) Reifinger, Kim (Jon) Hendren, Greg (Sandy) Spurgeon, Cheryl (Jay) Louison, Jill (Tom) Klusman, Stephanie McWilliams, Doug McWilliams, Derek (Hannah) McWilliams, Andrea (Brad) Pendleton, Lindsey (Drew) Schepman and Matt Spurgeon (Cassandra Samons); 30 great grandchildren: Amanda, Evan, Conner, Melanie, Bruce and Anneke Furr; Morgan, Annie, Cameron, Jack and Griffin Gillard; Alexa and Jessica Furr; TJ (Theresa), Scott (Luz), Lena, Emily and Ben Reifinger; Chandler Hendren; Samantha Spurgeon; Jessica and Cole Louison; TC, Katie and Mark Klusman, Alexandra McWilliams; Lane and Mack Pendleton and Luke and Kade Schepman; two great great grandchildren, Bradley and Leilani Reifinger; and nephew, Andy (Carol) Denny.
In addition to both parents, she was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Stephen McWilliams; and two brothers, William "Bill" Denny and James Thomas "Bud" Denny.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2015 at Brownstown United Methodist Church with Reverend Kevin Stiles officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday, August 24, 2015 at Brownstown United Methodist Church.
Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.
Memorials may be given to Harry and June Spurgeon Scholarship Fund or Brownstown United Methodist Church.
