Mary Louise Bonanno, age 84, of Pekin, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Bonanno was a devoted caregiver, who was fortunate to remain at home to care for her grandchildren. She loved her family deeply and found joy in caring for others. Over her lifetime of helping those around her, she formed many lasting friendships. Mary also enjoyed going to garage sales and the casino, and she had a deep love for her dogs.
Born on February 28, 1942, in Tennessee, Mary was the daughter of Elmer and Elizabeth (Turner) Lockhart, both of whom preceded her in death. On August 15, 1960, she married Santo Bonanno, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Joe (Traci) Bonanno of Pekin; two daughters: Marie (Reid) Stephenson of Palmyra, and Sherry Dodds of Texas; grandchildren: Kevin (Cheri) Anderson, Joey Cottey (fiancé Alisha), Frank (Katie) Cottey, Samantha (Rashad) Cosom, Amanda Bonanno, James Bonanno, Joseph Bonanno, Dezirie Bonanno, Steven Bonanno, Kenny Gryb, Crystal Gryb, Mary Gryb, Kala Neyhart, Patrick Neyhart, Dana Kotowski, Jamie Bonanno, Megan Bonanno, Lauren Stephenson, Ashley Stephenson, and Justin Stephenson; several great-great grandchildren; two brothers: George (Kathy) Ladd of Orlando, Florida, and Elmer Lockhart of Georgia; daughter-in-law, Jenny Bonanno; and Goddaughter, Lisa Ezell.
Mary was also preceded in death by two daughters: Connie Bonanno and Tammy Ezell; one son, Richard Bonanno; two brothers: Johnny Ladd and James Ladd; one sister, Barbara Ezell; and son-in-law, Jim Dodds.
A graveside service for Mary Louise Bonanno will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour.
Memorials may be given to Riverview Cemetery.
