Maxine Brown, age 98, of Brownstown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Autumn Trace, Seymour.
Mrs. Brown was a devoted member of Brownstown Presbyterian Church, where she served in various church groups throughout the years.
Maxine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, who faithfully supported her husband's veterinary practice by assisting with the business records and bookkeeping.
Maxine dearly loved her church and family and especially cherished traveling with her late husband and loved ones. Together, she and her husband were fortunate to visit all 50 states and to travel abroad to many countries. She also enjoyed baking, playing bridge in several card clubs, playing checkers, snow skiing, working crossword puzzles, and spending time playing other games with family and friends. In addition, she was a past member of Psi Iota Xi.
Born on January 23, 1928, in Kansas, Maxine was the daughter of Albert and Martha (Molzahn) Cockroft, both of whom preceded her in death. On September 4, 1949, in Olathe, Colorado, she married Dr. Kenneth B. Brown, and he preceded her in death on March 20, 2008.
Survivors include three sons: Kenneth B. (Pam) Brown, Jr. of Monument, Colorado, Gregory D. Brown of Phoenix, Arizona, and Richard J. (Linda) Brown of Freetown; seven grandchildren: Kelly (Trent) Sutton, Kim (Brad) Wilson, Katie (Brandon) Smith, Brooke Russell (Douglas Declue), Brandi Russell, Crystal (Bryan) Mager, and Heather Williams; and ten great-grandchildren: Jonathon Sutton, Jackie Sutton, Jozi Wilson, Oscar Smith, Charlotte Smith, Ben Smith, Kendal Mager, Nora Mager, Victoria Gomez, and Izabella Gomez.
Maxine was also preceded in death by one brother, Warren R. Cockroft.
Funeral services for Maxine Brown will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Brownstown Presbyterian Church with Rev. James (J.C.) Blankenbeker officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Brownstown Presbyterian Church.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.
Memorials may be given to Brownstown Presbyterian Church.
