Mildred Goen Swengel, age 87, of Brownstown, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown.
Mrs. Swengel was a member of Clearspring Baptist Church and a member of the Ladies Aid at the church. She was previously employed at Sears, Hoosier Christian Village, Schneck Medical Center and Bi-Low in Bedford. Mrs. Swengel was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
Born on August 23, 1928, she was the daughter of Raymond and Louise Morgan Wisehart, both of whom preceded her in death. On November 2, 1946, in Clearspring, Indiana, she married Edward Goen and he preceded her in death on March 1, 1991.
Survivors include five sons, Mike (Mona) Goen of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Kevin (Sherry) Goen of Jenson Beach, Florida; Lonny (Wilma) Goen of Taylorsville, Indiana; Greg (Tess) Goen of Seymour, Indiana; and Tony Goen of Scipio, Indiana; one daughter, Lori Sunbury of Scipio, Indiana; three brothers, Russell Wisehart of Springfield, Missouri; James Wisehart of Mountain Home, Arkansas; and Richard Wisehart of Phoenix, Arizona; two sisters, Dixie Whiteside of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Peggy Fischer of Phoenix, Arizona; 25 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Brandi Goen; one brother, Donald Wisehart; and one sister, JoAnn Whilhite.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Lonny Goen and Russell Wisehart officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown. Burial will be at Clearspring Cemetery.
