Norman Eggersman, age 95, of Seymour, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the Lutheran Community Home, Seymour, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Eggersman was baptized in Christ on June 14, 1930, and confirmed in his faith on March 25, 1945, both at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers. He remained a devoted and active member of the church throughout his life. Over the years, he served in various roles within the church and school, including chairman, trustee, member of the church’s men’s club, and member of the cemetery board.
Norman attended Indiana Business School before serving in the United States Army. Following his military service, he worked for Al Jax Chemical for many years before starting his own business. In 1970, he and his wife, Dolores, founded Hy-Grade Chemical, which sold products for Clarke Floor Equipment. He worked faithfully alongside her until 2008, helping build both the business and a lasting legacy. Norman was also a dedicated farmer and served as Washington Township Trustee for more than 20 years.
Norman purchased the family farm in 1957. He and Dolores were committed to raising their children in the church, instilling in them enduring values of faith and a strong work ethic. Norman led by example, involving his children in both the family business and life on the farm, where he taught them responsibility, perseverance, and the value of working together.
Family was important to Norman, and he especially loved watching his grandsons play sports at Sauers, Seymour, and Brownstown. He also loved playing cards with family and friends and talking and visiting with his neighbors.
Born on June 3, 1930, in Seymour, Norman was the son of Fred and Selma (Schuerman) Eggersman, both of whom preceded him in death. On November 15, 1958, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, he married Dolores Rieckers, and she preceded him in death on January 16, 2026.
Survivors include three sons: Charles (Linda) Eggersman of Brownstown, Russell Eggersman of Seymour, and David (Rhonda) Eggersman of Seymour; three grandchildren: Jordan (Mariah) Eggersman of Brownstown, Evan (Holly) Eggersman of Seymour, and Cameron Eggersman of Brownstown; three great-grandchildren: Cale Eggersman, Gentry Eggersman, and Julia Eggersman; two sisters: Marilyn Kiewit of Brownstown, and Shelby Torres of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
Norman was also preceded in death by two brothers-in-law: Lloyd Kiewit and Ernie Torres.
