Paul E. Meadows, age 82, of Edinburgh, and Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at his family's cabin in Salem surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Meadows grew up in West Virginia and was raised in the Baptist faith.
Paul was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Mr. Meadows dedicated 37 years to federal civil service. He began his career at the Pentagon at the age of 18 and retired from the Department of Defense as a GM-15 manager. A proud alumnus of Indiana University and graduate of the Kelley School of Business, Paul later continued his professional career as a consultant with Northrop Grumman for many years.
Paul had a lifelong passion for Indiana University basketball and football and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Hoosiers or watch Big Ten competitions. He was committed to fitness throughout his life, completing numerous mini-marathons and enjoying an active lifestyle. An avid golfer, Paul was a member of the SAS Golf Club in Punta Gorda, Florida, and The Legends Golf Club in Franklin. He also enjoyed playing Euchre with family and friends.
Born on December 5, 1943, in Logan, West Virginia, Paul was the son of Bob and Ina (McGuire) Meadows, both of whom preceded him in death. On November 14, 1990, in Indianapolis, he married Joy (Carter) Blair, and she survives in Edinburgh, and Punta Gorda, Florida. Also surviving is his former spouse, Pat (Skeens) Jackson, of Ecuador.
Survivors also include two daughters: Vicki (Bo) Schlosser of Franktown, Colorado, and Vanessa Barton of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren: Alyssa (Matt) Husted, Jordan (Jake) Risk, Sydney (Shahar) Mazer, Delaney Moss, Shelby (Nick) Reynolds, Ryan Moss, Elijah Schwartz, Wesley (Anahli) Moss, Mosha Schwartz, Spencer Moss, Logan Moss, and Tziyon Schwartz; four great-grandchildren: Aiden Husted, Madison Husted, Luke Kramer, and Adam Mazer; and two sisters: Jean Cook of Ripley, West Virginia, and Dorothy Yeager of Tallahassee, Florida;
Paul was also preceded in death by two step-daughters: Roxanne Blair Leveritt and Rachael Blair Williams; two sons-in-law; John Barton and Mark Schwartz; four brothers: Paitsel Meadows, John Meadows, Ed Meadows, and Willard Meadows; and three sisters: Aileen Nelson, Wanda Allie, and Marie “Bootie” Campbell.
A Celebration of Life for Paul E. Meadows will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc. A reception will follow at the Meadows cabin.
Memorials may be given to Southern Care Hospice or Kentuckiana Cat Rescue.
