Philip Lawrence Nash

Philip Lawrence Nash, age 77, of Brownstown, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Lutheran Community Home, Seymour. Mr. Nash was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, where he was active in church organizations and activities. He was also a member of the Lutheran Men's Chorus and a member of the Jackson County Genealogical Society. Mr. Nash served four years in the United States Navy and was employed for 30 years as a field technician for NCR. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, working in his yard and gardening. Born on December 3, 1939, in Shelburn, Indiana, he was the son of Wilbur and Bertha (Courtney) Nash, both of whom preceded him in death. On October 12, 1968, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, he married Marjorie Ellen Blevins and she survives in Brownstown. Survivors also include one son, Philip Todd Nash of Brownstown; one daughter, Emily Susanne (Stan) Darlage of Vallonia; one brother, Richard Arnold Nash of Sullivan; two sisters: Lois Kimberling of Shelburn and Ernestine Alumbaugh of Sullivan; and four grandchildren: Alyson Nash, Taylor Nash, Dane Darlage and Carson D. Darlage. In addition to both parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Norma Jean Asbury; brothers-in-law: Chuck Kimberling, Ted Alumbaugh, Leo Alumbaugh and Robert Asbury; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Nash. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, with Pastor Martin Keller officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan. Interment will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Old Wegan Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Vets 7.
