Randa Kay (McCory) Skaggs, age 78, of Brownstown, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.
Mrs. Skaggs was a woman of Christian faith.
Randa was a devoted homemaker, who deeply loved God and cherished her family. She was a faithful wife, caring mother, loving grandmother, and a source of spiritual encouragement for her family and friends.
Randa lived life to the fullest, never allowing the limitations of her immune system to diminish her spirit. She made the most of every moment. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially on their yearly trips to Myrtle Beach and Gatlinburg that created lasting memories. Known for her kind heart, Randa was a wonderful listener. She enjoyed writing, listening to music, singing, playing cards and board games, and sharing her passion and talent for interior design to help her family and friends.
Randa was often the refuge people sought when life was too heavy for them. Because of her faith and her fearlessness of exhibiting that faith, she was often a safe place for many. Jesus was a common household name and the foundation she built her family on. She never hesitated to call on her Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus. Randa was lovingly known as "the life of the party," "the fun aunt," "Sugar Babe," "Candy Cane," and "Counselor", nicknames that reflected her joyful spirit, loving nature, and the special place she held in the hearts of family and friends.
Born on August 1, 1947, in Seymour, Randa was the daughter of Fred and Nancy (Cockerham) McCory, both of whom preceded her in death. On March 20, 1966, in Jamestown, Kentucky, she married the love of her life, Glen Skaggs, and he survives in Brownstown.
Survivors also include two daughters: Angel (Ronald) Demers of Brownstown, and Christy (Cory) Rhinebolt of Brownstown; five grandchildren: Elijah Demers (Kyleigh Cafee), Miranda Demers, Tiffany DeWitt, Tyler DeWitt, and Samuel (Jordan) Morrow; and eight great-grandchildren: Oakleigh, Genesis, David, Lily Kay, Emma, Isabella, Guinevere, and Caspian.
Randa was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters-in-law: Neal and Susan McCory, Jim and Carolyn McCory, and Jerry and Sandy McCory; sisters and brothers-in-law: Barb and Frank Bennett and Joan (Phil) Elder; and infant sister, Joyce Dale McCory.
