Richard W. Teipen, age 75, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at his residence He served in the Indiana National Guard, was a member of the Jackson County Sheriff Posse since 1997 and was a retired farmer. He enjoyed pulling his team of mules, playing euchre, trail riding with his friends and four wheeling with his companion, Tina. Born on June 20, 1939, in Jackson County, Indiana, he was the son of Tony and Pollie Waskom Teipen, Sr., both of whom preceded him in death. He married Conita A. Holstine on April 13, 1962 in Salem, Indiana, and she preceded him in death on June 19, 2008. Survivors include two sons, Tim Teipen and Jeffrey (Peggy) Teipen, both of Seymour; one daughter, Lisa Murphy, of Seymour; four grandchildren, Jeremy Murphy, Evan Murphy, Teddie Teipen and Ashley Teipen all of Seymour; and one great granddaughter, Skylee Murphy of Seymour. In addition to both parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Tony Teipen and George "Bill" Teipen. Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Scott Brown officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
