Robert Dean Beaver, age 79, of Freetown, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at I.U. Methodist, Indianapolis, with his wife by his side.
Mr. Beaver was an active servant with Freetown United Methodist Church, and he loved his church family.
Robert and his wife, Donna, both retired from Cummins Engine Co. on the same day. Mr. Beaver retired after 32 years of employment.
Robert loved traveling with his wife and eating out at restaurants. He also loved mowing and working in his flower gardens, and fishing and camping with his father-in-law and mother-in-law. He was an avid I.U. basketball fan. He also enjoyed woodworking, and he made several items for his church. Robert always had a smile on his face, and he loved laughing and joking with people.
Born on May 14, 1943, in Jackson County, he was the son of Ralph and Alice Marie (Zike) Beaver, both of whom preceded him in death. On September 8, 1967, at Freetown United Brethren Church, he married Donna Sue Maples and she survives in Freetown.
Survivors also include two sisters: Janet Cole of Gainesville, Georgia, and Sandy (Frank) Nash of Ball Ground, Georgia; brother-in-law, Ronnie Lovins; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents, Mr. Beaver was also preceded in death by three sisters: Velma Lovins, Dorcas Peacock, and Vera Lee Clark; two brothers-in-law: Richard Peacock and Floyd Cole; father-in-law, William Maples; and mother-in-law, Bonnie (Fields) Maples.
Funeral services for Robert Beaver will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Freetown United Methodist Church with Pastor Rob Kirts officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 5, 2022, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Freetown United Methodist Church.
Interment will be at Freetown Cemetery.
Memorials in memory of Robert may be given to Freetown United Methodist Church.
