Ronald Lee Kidd, age 60, Crothersville, passed away at 9:59 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Franciscan St. Francis Health, Greenwood.Ronald was a member of Tampico Baptist Church. He retired from Jackson County REMC in 2003 as a right-of-way coordinator after 38 years. He also owned and operated a family Christmas tree farm for several years, which he really enjoyed. He was a 1970 graduate of Brownstown Central High School.Ronald was a loving and devoted husband, father, son and papaw. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and teaching them how to do things. He always put his family first and was eager to help others. He enjoyed being outdoors, deer hunting, fishing, gardening, farming, woodworking and watching NASCAR races.Born July 28, 1952, in Seymour, he was the son of Clarence and Carolyn (Wolka) Kidd. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Crothersville. On Feb. 24, 1973, he married Susan Eckelman in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Columbus. She survives.Other survivors include two sons, Brian Kidd and Andy Kidd, both of Crothersville; one daughter, Melanie (Ryan) Barker, Seymour; two brothers, Bill (Marlis) Kidd, Seymour, and James (Karen) Kidd, Brownstown; four grandchildren, Sydney Kidd, Braden Kidd, Jada Barker and Jarett Barker; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his young son, Adam Mark Kidd; father, Clarence Kidd; one sister, Ellen Sue Pennington; father-in-law, Maurice Eckleman; and mother-in-law, Marian (Kuehn) Eckleman.Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc., Brownstown, with David Schill and Harold Morrow officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society , Tampico Baptist Church or Zion Lutheran Preschool.
