Roy William Monroe, Sr.

Roy William Monroe Sr., age 68, of Seymour, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center in Hazard, Ky. Born March 5, 1945, in Crawfordsville, he was the son of James Alfred and Violet Marie Gullett Monroe, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Darlene Bea Miller on October 29, 1968, in Columbus; and she survives. Jackson County survivors include a son, Roy William (Cami) Monroe Jr.; a daughter, Tamela Faye (Reggie) Flowers, and a sister, Carolyn (Sam) Hendren, Crothersville. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Spurgeon Funeral Home in Brownstown, with Sam Allman officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family.
