Ruth Jeanette (Hanner) (Fine) Hall, age 89, of Kurtz, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Hoosier Health & Living, Brownstown.
Ruth was a devoted member of Kurtz Church of the Nazarene, where she served as choir director, program coordinator, and played a key role in organizing and assisting with funeral meals.
Ruth enjoyed a successful and diverse professional career. She worked in Indianapolis with Prudential Insurance, the Pinkerton Detective Agency, and Teamsters Local Union 135. In Arizona, she was employed by Post Printing and the Tucson newspapers. Later, she served as a legal secretary for Markel & Markel in Brownstown, and Haley, Farrow & Thompson in Seymour.
Born on December 24, 1935, in the Kurtz area, Ruth was the daughter of Woodrow and Marjorie (Lutes) Hanner, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Lloyd Fine, and later, in December of 1983, she married Jackie D. Hall, who preceded her in death on November 21, 2021.
Survivors include one son, Timothy J. (Diane) Fine of Gilbert, Arizona; three step-sons: H. Randall Hall of North Vernon, Douglas K. Hall of Freetown, and Brian K. Hall of Seymour; two step-daughters: Rita Arthur of Maumee, and Kathryn Roark of Freetown; two grandchildren: Chelsea Loudermilk of Arizona, and Cameron Dodd of Arizona; six great-grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; four step great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Patty Hanner, Beverley (Dwight) DeWitt, and Judy Hanner; and brother-in-law, Dale Sovern.
Ruth was also preceded in death by two sisters: Wilma J. Sovern and Karen Stradley; brother-in-law, Jeff Stradley; sister-in-law, Mary Gail Hanner; and three brothers: Edward Hanner, Morris Hanner, and Ronald L. Hanner. Her brother, Nolan Keith Hanner, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025.
Funeral services for Ruth Jeanette (Hanner) (Fine) Hall and her brother, Nolan Keith Hanner, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Kurtz Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Floyd Fisher officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Kurtz Church of the Nazarene.
Interment will follow at Kurtz Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Kurtz Church of the Nazarene or Kurtz Cemetery.
