Ruth Ester Reynolds, age 83, of Crothersville, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, January 31, 2026, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Reynolds was a faithful, lifelong member of Tampico Christian Church.

Ruth dedicated over 25 years of loyal service to Wal-Mart prior to her retirement.

Family was of the greatest importance to Ruth. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. With a heart of gold, she was a “mom” to many and a dear friend to all. She also found joy in doing word search puzzles and coloring.

Born on April 1, 1942, in Clay County, Kentucky, Ruth was the daughter of John and Mamie (Depew) Maxie, both of whom preceded her in death. On February 10, 1967, at Tampico Christian Church, she married William “Bill” James Reynolds, and he preceded her in death on May 9, 2024.

Survivors include one son, James Reynolds of Crothersville; one daughter, Sondra (Tom) Gross of Crothersville; three grandchildren: Michael Leitzman of Brownstown, Matthew Gross of Dickinson, North Dakota, and Jacob Gross of Crothersville; two great-grandchildren: Lainey Leitzman and Jacoby Leitzman; one sister, Ethel Benson of Seymour; two brothers-in-law: Kenny Reynolds of Crothersville, and Roscoe Reynolds of Montana; one sister-in-law, Linda Wheeler of Crothersville; and one former granddaughter-in-law, Katie Leitzman.

Ruth was also preceded in death by three brothers: Burchell Maxie, Gilbert Maxie, and Steve Maxie; four sisters: Ada Shirley, Sadie Sturgeon, Georgia Blair, and Edna Densford; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arvol and Louise Reynolds.

Funeral services for Ruth Ester Reynolds will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Randy King officiating. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.

Memorials may be given to Tampico Christian Church or Russell Chapel Cemetery.
