Samuel Nicholson, age 88, of Brownstown, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. Mr. Nicholson was a member of Ratcliff Grove Christian Church and a member of the United States Army. He retired from Kieffer's Paper Mill in Brownstown after 38 years of employment, was also a member of the County Seat Fish & Game Club, and he loved cats. Born on October 14, 1930, in Montgomery, he was the son of James and Mary M. Winegar Nicholson, both of whom preceded him in death. On November 5, 1955, in Columbus, he married Hattie Mae Reynolds, and she preceded him in death on September 14, 2010. Survivors include one daughter, Bonita Hartley of Washington; two grandchildren: Jon Barnes and April Barnes Hunt; and five great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Tom Nicholson, and Charlie Nicholson; three sisters: Ava, Dorothy, and Marie Junkins; and one half sister Hazel. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 12:00 P.M. at Vallonia Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Vets 7.
