Steven Ray Gater, age 76, of Seymour, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.

Mr. Gater dedicated his working life to the steel industry, where he was employed by Bateman Builders and Toppe Construction.

Steve cherished the simple joys of life, especially spending time at home with his wife and enjoying the outdoors. He treasured making memories with family and friends and had a special love for tractor pulls, monster trucks, and playing Euchre with friends. These hobbies and moments with loved ones brought him great happiness throughout his life.

Born on October 28, 1950, in Seymour, Steve was the son of Emerson Gater and Ruth (Hill) Guffey, both of whom preceded him in death. On January 19, 1973, in Selina, Texas, he married June Gail McIntosh, and she survives in Seymour.

Survivors also include two sisters: Tina Collins and Brenda Ciresi.

In accordance with Steven's wishes, the family has chosen cremation.
