Obituary

Thomas Andrew Schryer, age 54, of Seymour, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at his home in his wife's loving arms.
Tom served in the United States Navy, and he was a safety and training coordinator on an offshore drilling rig, the latest being with Valaris. He was an active member of the Redding Township Volunteer Fire Department for more than 20 years, which he dearly loved, and he was also a member of the IVFA, and the American Legion.
Mr. Schryer cherished his children and grandchildren and loved vacationing with his family. He enjoyed doting on his loving wife and teasing her best friend, Lisa. He also enjoyed dirt track racing with his son.
Born on July 18, 1969, in Seymour, Tom was the son of Calvin and Alice (Detiz) Schryer, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Tereca Ann Sitterding, and she survives in Seymour.
Survivors also include two sons: Caleb (Destiny) Schryer of North Vernon, and Adam Robbins of Seymour; two daughters: Tori Ann Renee' Meneely of Seymour, and Kimberly Ann Robbins of Seymour; four brothers: Brian (Carrie) Schryer of Seymour, Jack (Wendy) Schryer of Medora, Tony Schryer of Madison, and Richard Schryer of Seymour; two sisters: Sheryl Rock of Columbus, and Alecia (Michael) Franklin of Fountain Inn, South Carolina; and four grandchildren: Athena Moon Hanley, Zaylah Taitum Schryer, Fallon Magnolia Robbins, and Zarah Dale Schryer.
Besides his parents, Tom was also preceded in death by one son, Vincent Clay Miller; one grandson, Atlas Alexander Hanley; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Ruth Schryer; one nephew, Eric Schryer; and mother-in-law, Judith Ann Bias.
Funeral services for Thomas Andrew Schryer will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024, at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Vallonia Cemetery.
Military honors will be presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47, and Vietnam Vets 7.
Memorials may be given to Redding Township Volunteer Fire Department.
