Thomas Lee Herzner Sr., age 69, of Brownstown, passed away at 3 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.Thomas retired from the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Army Reserves and from Cummins Inc. Born July 19, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of William and Elsie May Maley Herzner, both of whom preceded him in death. Survivors include five sons, William R. Herzner of Nome, Alaska, T.J. (Amanda) Herzner of Brownstown, Paul (Lisa) Brashear of Tulsa, Okla., Timothy (Lacey) Herzner of Brownstown and Kevin Nelson of Columbus, Ohio; five daughters, Terri (Mark) Umble of Brownstown, Jennifer (Kwan) Herzner of San Leandro, Calif., Nicole Herzner of Seymour, Michelle (Billy) Purdue of Columbus and Karen (Chris) Kinser of Columbus, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Kailynn Spinks; three brothers, William Herzner, Louis Herzner and Robert Herzner; and one sister, Beverly Herzner. A funeral service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Veterans National Cemetery, Madison. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc., Brownstown. Memorials may be given to the family for the Brownstown Baseball Association.
