Obituary

Vivian Jane Stahl, age 83, of Brownstown, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Hoosier Health & Living, Brownstown, with her loving family by her side.

Mrs. Stahl was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, where she was baptized, confirmed, and married. She faithfully served as a member of the church's Ladies Aid and remained devoted to her church throughout her life.

Vivian graduated from Tampico High School in 1960. She was a dedicated homemaker, who cherished the opportunity to stay at home and raise her children. She also worked alongside her husband, Charlie, on the family farm, particularly enjoying the daily chore of milking cows, which she carried out with great pride and passion.

Vivian was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in their sporting activities, being one of their biggest supporters. She also found joy in reading and tending to her garden and flowers.

Born on November 9, 1942, in Jackson County, Vivian was the daughter of Leroy and Erma (Eggeman) Wischmeier, both of whom preceded her in death. On April 25, 1965, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, she married Charles H. Stahl and he survives in Brownstown.

Survivors also include one daughter, Denise (Bruce) Shoemaker of Vallonia; two sons: Bruce (Mendy) Stahl of Brownstown, and Jeffrey (Connie) Stahl of Brownstown; eight grandchildren: Matthew (Ashley) Shoemaker, Katelyn (Eric) Byrkett, Cameron (Piper) Shoemaker, Nicholas (Jamah) Stahl, Skyler (Kristen) Stahl, Chandler Stahl, Levi Stahl, and Adam Stahl; seven great-grandchildren: Luke Shoemaker, Olivia Shoemaker, Phoebe Byrkett, Fletcher Shoemaker, Ella Stahl, Ada Stahl, and Archie Stahl; one brother, Ronald (Melody) Wischmeier of Vallonia; and one sister, Janice Teipen of Seymour.

Mrs. Stahl was also preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Wischmeier; and one brother-in-law, Phil Teipen.
