Willard "Bill" Henry Carl Schepman, age 99, of Brownstown, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.
Mr. Schepman was a life-time member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, and was also a member of the church's Men's Club.
Bill was a dedicated lifelong farmer, working on a farm that had been passed down through seven generations. He farmed alongside his wife, Gertie, and was involved in raising livestock, hogs, chickens, and growing grain.
Bill was a devoted member of the Dudleytown Conservation Club and the Indiana Farm Bureau.
Family, farming, and fishing were Bill's greatest passions. Family was of the utmost importance to Bill. He was deeply loved by his family, and he cherished every moment spent with them, especially fishing with his grandchildren at the family pond. He also enjoyed hunting. He retired in 1975 and spent winters with his beloved wife, Gertie, and friends in Florida until 2024.
Born on March 19, 1926, at his home on the family farm, Bill was the son of Louis Martin and Anna (Tape) Schepman, both of whom preceded him in death. On August 20, 1950, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sauers, Pastor Alvin A. Mueller, Gertrude's father, officiated the marriage of Mr. Schepman to Gertrude "Gertie" Eunice, who survives him in Brownstown.
Survivors also include four sons: Daniel (Dorothy) Schepman of Crothersville, Richard (Kris) Schepman of Crothersville, Michael (Darlene) Schepman of Brownstown, and Rev. Timothy (Robyn) Schepman of Long Beach, California; grandchildren: Jon Schepman, Sherida (Steve) Newmister, Brent (fiancé Shelby) Schepman, Crista Lanning, Eric Hercamp, Greg (Angie) Schepman, Drew (Lindsey) Schepman, Stacie Schepman, Eric Schepman, Alex (Annaka) Schepman, Kourtney (Tom) Dodson, Janel (Chris) Hammond, and Mackenzie Schepman; great-grandchildren: Logan (Brook) Barrett, Whitney Schepman, Spencer (fiancé Mory Ann) Newmister, Samantha (Seth) Bumbalough, Madeline Schepman, Claire Schepman, Kaylen Turmail, Sam Schepman, Ben Schepman, Jake Schepman, Anna Schepman, Luke Schepman, Kade Schepman, Gertie Hobson, Avery Schepman, Katelyn Schepman, Henry Schepman, Harlan Schepman, Olivia Dodson, Clive Dodson, August Hammond, and Esme Hammond; and one great-great grandchild, Neely Bumbalough.
Mr. Schepman was also preceded in death by one grandson, Josh Schepman; one great-grandson, Jonathan Schepman; two brothers and two sisters-in-law: Robert John Edward (Selma) Schepman, and Harry (Deloris) Schepman; and three sisters and three brothers-in-law: Lucille Ann (Eddie) Reifels, Norma Elizabeth (Jim) Mitchum, and Margaret L. (Arthur) Tormoehlen.
Funeral services for Willard "Bill" Henry Carl Schepman will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, with Rev. Timothy Schepman and Rev. Craig Muhlbach officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers.
Interment will follow at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran School, Sauers, or St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers Expansion Fund.
